BASF said on April 18 that the company is expanding production capacity of ammonium bicarbonate and ammonium carbonate in the Ludwigshafen plant in Germany. The goal is to increase capacity by 30%. BASF said that the expansion of energy is to meet the global market demand for the rapid growth of high-purity food additives. The expansion project is expected to be completed in early 2013. According to the person in charge of BASF's Asia-Pacific business on inorganic chemicals, the new capacity at Ludwigshafen will also meet the growing demand for high-purity food additives in the Asia-Pacific region.
