China Metrology Institute won the 2011 CAIA Award

Recently, the 2011 China Association for Testing and Analysis (CASIA) Science and Technology Award (CAIA Award) was announced. The China Academy of Scientific Research has achieved 5 scientific and technological achievements, including 1 first prize, 1 second prize, and 3 third prizes.

Among the five award-winning results, the “Research on Key Technologies for the Purification and Detection of Organic Solvents for Agricultural Residuals in Analytical Testing” won the first prize; “The XPS method for accurate measurement of ultra-thin layer thickness on SiO2 over Si” was awarded Second prize; “Study on the 19 kinds of 38 kinds of food carbon dioxide measurement reference materials and detection technology”, “High sensitive detection technology and accurate quantitative method of ricin and theophylline”, “High accuracy measurement of creatinine in human serum Methodology, standard substance research, and international key comparisons won the third prize for three results.

Among them, the “Primary Study on Key Technologies for Purification and Detection of Organic Solvents for Analytical Testing and Agricultural Residual Solvents”, which won the first prize, is the result of a major science and technology support program project undertaken by the China Metrology Institute. The project team has captured 14 common key technologies for the preparation and detection of high-purity organic solvents for scientific research, and has independently developed high-purity chromatographic grades, pesticide residues, and spectral grades such as methanol, acetonitrile, n-hexane, acetone, ethyl acetate, and ethanol. Organic solvents are mostly industrialized. Compared with similar products in the world, these technologies and reagents with independent intellectual property rights are technically equivalent, but the production cost and price are significantly reduced, which breaks the long-term reliance on imports of high-purity organic reagents in China and reduces the dependence on foreign technology. It will play a fundamental supporting role in many areas such as food safety, environmental protection, life sciences, and biosafety in China.

The second-prize-winning XPS method for measuring the thickness of SiO2 ultra-thin layers on Si with the international equivalent established an XPS capable of measuring silicon dioxide (SiO2) ultrathin layer thickness on silicon (Si) with high accuracy. The analytical method has been well recognized by participating in international key comparisons and the effectiveness of equivalence and methods has been successfully confirmed, and has successfully applied for international calibration and measurement capabilities, and achieved international mutual recognition of China's corresponding national measurement standard calibration and measurement capabilities. This achievement can meet the urgent industry demand for silicon oxide gate oxide thickness measurement for silicon-based devices and integrated circuit manufacturing, and has good economic benefits.

The "China Association of Science and Technology Awards for Science and Technology" is the only social force award that has been approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and officially registered by the National Science and Technology Awards Office. Since 1993, the prize has been selected for 19 times. A total of 538 new techniques and methods for analyzing and testing have been rewarded.
