The opening ceremony of the 600,000-ton/year LNG (liquefied natural gas) equipment localization project of Petrochina Shandong Tai’an, led by the National Energy Administration, was solemnly held at the foot of Mount Tai. This is the first domestic natural gas liquefaction project with the most independent intellectual property rights and the largest liquefied production capacity in China. It is also the largest domestic LNG plant project that is currently under construction by China National Petroleum Corporation and marks the beginning of the construction of China National Petroleum Corporation in the field of natural gas liquefaction technology. A major breakthrough was made. This project is located in Fanzhen Industrial Park, Tai'an City, Shandong Province, and it is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013. It will have production capacity of 2.6 million cubic meters per day and can provide 600,000 tons/year of LNG energy for the surrounding areas. Relying on technology to achieve localized projects, the construction of this project is an important node for accelerating the localization of large-scale LNG technology equipment in China. As the first domestic natural gas liquefaction plant that utilizes independent technology, domestic equipment and largest scale, it fully realizes the large-scale natural gas liquefaction process, core technologies and localization of major equipment. It breaks the monopoly of foreign technology, protects national energy security and upgrades the manufacturing process of national equipment. It is of great significance. The core process technology and key equipment of Taian LNG Plant benefited from the major science and technology project of China National Petroleum Corporation's key technology for natural gas liquefaction established in 2009. Sun Longde, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and vice president of China National Petroleum Corporation, said in his speech that this project is one of the important measures taken by China Petroleum in response to the party and the state’s call to accelerate the autonomy and localization of equipment manufacturing and ensure the country’s energy security supply.
